The Grand Place, One of the most beautiful squares in the world. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and together with its
surrounding Baroque streets provide impressive examples of flamboyant Gothic architecture from the 15th century including the famous Hotel de Ville and the surrounding guildhalls.
With Glenn, you will sketch the streets, buildings, people, scenic locations and will be able to stop at cafés offering Belgian specialties.
Rue des Bouchers: a nearby unique “no cars” street filled with
historical baroque and Neo-baroque houses. The area contains many bespoke cafés and restaurants with large terraces making the street a sketcher’s dream come true. At lunch time, sample Belgium’s famous specialties.
Planned itinerary (subject to change) includes:
Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries: glazed 19th-century European shopping arcade.
Place Saint-Catherine and the beautiful historical monument Saint Catherine's Church. On Wednesdays it hosts an outdoor food market that provides many sketching subjects.
The Mannekin Pis, the world known landmark bronze statue regularly dressed by locals in fancy costumes.
Mont des Arts, a perfect opportunity to view from a hill the
cityscape of Brussels from a fine city garden.
Notre-Dame de Sablon, an outstanding late Gothic church with
stained-glass windows. The square contains cafes, chocolate shops and boutiques.
The Museums of Fine Arts where Glenn will analyze Masterworks 15th to 21st centuries.
